For the past 30 years Haji Mike, dub poet and lyricist, activist and journalist, has been speaking the truth as he sees it about the world around us. On this new release Haji teams up with London-based producer Dub Caravan on a unique full-length album titled ‘Virtual Oasis’.

This album sounds like vintage Linton “Kwesi” Johnson or Mutaburuka recorded in the 1970′s, laced with some current Reggae and Dub flavours including a distinct worldly sound. Released on the newly formed DubMed Label, this project returns to the graft of making music but with a key twist..it was recorded entirely online and the artists themselves to this day have not met in person. Ah, the wonders of technology!

The album contains 18 tracks; 12 original dub poems set to a rare musical fusion of reggae and Mediterranean sounds, 1 traditional tale dating back to the 13th Century, a poem that challenges division, and 5 full on dubbed-out instrumental versions which stand alone as amazing musical soundscapes.

Haji Mike is an established recording artist and dub poet with three decades af history behind him, including recent releases ‘Babylon Time’ (Sick Donkey Records/THC) and the Sonic Crime Remix of ‘Thalassa’ with acclaimed songtress Lia Vissy. His past full-lengths include ‘The Storyman’, ‘Aphrodite’s Dream’ and ‘Haji Mike on the Mic’, as well as countless singles and 12″s.

Dub Caravan, aka Felix Russ Abu, is an artist, multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer who creates a multi-dimensional musical landscape for listenerrs craving something fresh and innovative. His production style is both intense and discrete, and his sound is unique and yet somehow familiar.

Virtual Oasis is a challenging work, addressing issues of social injustice and freedom. In times of worldwide recession and economic meltdown people want more than superficial “party” songs and Champagne bottles corking in the background. This album will challenge you to listen and think.
